15 tonne – Local and trunking distribution
Isuzu’s 15 tonne model is ideal for both traditional trunking using boxes, curtainsiders, flat/dropsides and refrigerated bodies, as well as local operations for street cleaning, tippers, tankers, skips and refuse collection. This is a robust vehicle, with a 6-cylinder 260bhp engine and Eaton 6-speed manual gearbox.
Although the truck has a lighter GVW, the chassis is as strong as Isuzu’s 18 tonne vehicle and also uses the same cab which is 275mm wider than our 11/12 tonne trucks. This cab could easily be converted into a sleeper cab if longer journeys are required. It does have smaller tyres and wheels than an 18 tonner and if you don’t require a vehicle with 18 tonnes GVW this vehicle can make economic sense, with cheaper road tax and fuel efficiency.
